Agricultural Fence

Agricultural fence (or ag fence for short) is vital for property and livestock containment. This makes it integral for many who live in the Middle Georgia area. Whatever your needs or taste, we can help you get the best solution for your property.

Many names and styles of fence fall under the “agricultural” label, including:

  • ranch fence
  • horse fence
  • field fence
  • hog fence

Our standard field wire fence is installed on metal t-posts with wood braces and corners. Wire mesh and top strand of barbed wire keeps livestock contained and safe.

The treated wood braces and corners stabilize the fence at its ends and at changes in topography (see the illustration).

Ranch fence and horse fence are different names for the same thing. This fence is 48 inches (4 feet) tall and comprised of three or four boards between line posts. Styles vary.

The simplest style is 4-board or 3-board fence. The boards are stacked like rungs on a ladder — simple, efficient, elegant.

Another variation is cross buck. Cross buck fence also uses four boards, but as the name suggest they are placed in a cross or X pattern.

These wood fences are typically used for horse and cattle enclosures, to mark a perimeter, or to deter any passersby wondering if the pretty cotton field is open for thru-traffic. If you want to keep smaller critters than humans off your land, you can add field wire to to the wood fence.
